Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Sani Shaibu’s journey has been shaped by entrepreneurship, community service, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Sani completed high school in Ghana and went on to establish and manage his own clothing business for nine years. During this time, he also volunteered to support older adults in his community, an experience that strengthened his passion for serving vulnerable populations and improving the well-being of others.
After immigrating to the United States in 2020, Sani continued his commitment to community service. He began working with the Minority Humanitarian Foundation in San Diego, California, and became a member of the Survivors Advisory Board (SAB) at the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT), where he contributed his perspective and experience to support the needs of survivors.
He also gained three years of professional experience working as a Home Health Aide and Receptionist, strengthening his communication, caregiving, administrative, and interpersonal skills. These experiences inspired him to pursue formal education and training as a Community Health Worker (CHW), allowing him to build the knowledge and skills needed to connect individuals and families with essential health resources and community services.
Sani completed his Community Health Worker education and worked with CHW Solutions for three years, gaining valuable experience in community outreach, health education, and helping individuals navigate available resources.
He is excited to continue his journey as a Community Health Worker at Sabathani Community Center, where he looks forward to building meaningful relationships with community members, promoting health awareness, connecting individuals and families to essential resources, and supporting the overall well-being of the community. He is passionate about helping people overcome barriers to care and ensuring they feel heard, respected, and supported.
Sani’s long-term goal is to establish and grow his own nonprofit organization, with a mission to empower underserved communities, improve access to health education and resources, and provide meaningful support to older adults, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations.
As a Community Health Navigator, Sani believes that everyone deserves access to compassionate care, reliable information, and the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life. His personal experiences, professional background, and dedication to service continue to motivate him to make a lasting difference in the communities he serves. He is grateful for the opportunity to bring this passion and commitment to his new role at Sabathani Community Center.
