The project also supports the City\u2019s and Xcel Energy\u2019s equity, environmental justice, and distributed energy objectives, as the centers chosen centers serve communities with large populations of Black people, Indigenous people and people of color that have been disproportionately vulnerable to climate change and other stressors.<\/p>\n<p>Xcel Energy will work with Sabathani to install a solar and battery microgrid, which will provide electricity in the event of power outages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sabathani.webaloolabs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Public-Utilities-Commission-approves-9-million-investment-in-three-Resilient-Minneapolis-projects.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the news release here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minnesota Public Utilities Commission recently approved of a $9 million resiliency investment at three Minneapolis community centers, including the Sabathani Community Center.
